At Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø College, we believe all individuals have a right to fully pursue campus life without concern for their safety and well-being. We are committed to working campus-wide to educate and address concerns, but we need your help.

What is hazing?

Hazing is any activity expected of someone joining or participating in a group that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers them, regardless of a person’s willingness to participate.

Three components define hazing:

1. It occurs in a group context
2. Humiliating, degrading, or endangering behavior

As this definition shows, hazing happens regardless of whether an individual consents. Because of the power dynamics involved in hazing, a person cannot consent to hazing occurring. 

Starting in 2023, Ò°ÀÇÉçÇø College joined colleges nationwide for StopHazing’s Hazing Prevention Consortium (HPC). HPC members work together with StopHazing’s research and prevention experts for three years to assess campus climate for hazing and build capacity to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate data-informed hazing prevention strategies.
