Searching for the right college is both exciting and overwhelming, and the process typically involves you and possibly others. As a parent or caregiver, you play a critical role鈥攁s mentor, guide, and organizer鈥攁nd it鈥檚 important for you to talk early with your student about ways you can best work together.
Both you and your student will make important contributions to the process. Your student should define goals for college and consider what type of school might best suit his, her, or their personality. If available, your student should be responsible for meetings with a college counselor at school to get information about specific colleges and answer questions you and others may have.
We also recommend that applicants be active throughout their college search by personally engaging with our admission counselors.
